The workshop Hapticality and Sense-making invites participants to explore how movement and sound can help sense and respond to one another. Through structured improvisation, participants develop an understanding of ‘hapticality’—feeling the world through others—and of ‘perceiving a world peopled not with things but with forces, not with subjects but with powers, not with bodies but with bonds’.

Inspired by Augusto Boal’s games for actors and non-actors, exercises include breathing and humming together, clapping, following each other’s movements and walking at different speeds with eyes open or closed. A responsive media environment translates participants’ improvised movements into shifting sound and light, allowing them to experience how individual and collective actions shape a shared space.

No prior experience in movement or somatic arts is required. The activities are voluntary and suitable for diverse ages and abilities. Those taking part should wear comfortable clothing and communicate when registering if they have any access needs.

After the workshop, visitors are invited to explore open questions and ideas on quantum-acoustics at the Pause on Quantum Matter lounge and reading corner in the Ceija Stojka Foyer outside the auditorium.
